Dramatically playful, detail oriented, wholesome with slight sexiness, colorful and sweet. The Fifties was fundamentally a time of conformity, you won’t find anything wild or risqué on these pages. Think of it as good, clean, wholesome stuff. Instead of lingerie think night shirts, instead of mini skirts, think at the knee length skirts, instead of shorts think trousers and you’ll get the idea.

Fashion has a very colorful history we can always refer to, as they say. What’s regale about it is that it enables us to go back to years when we were not even born yet, simply by giving an outfit a touch of vintage. In doing so, whether we’re channeling the 6O’s Retro or the 8O’s Hippie, we should cut across the timeline and give it a sense of this centuries update or a pinch of our own style, at least.
A plum gold chain detailed kimono, a soft white laced shorts, attention grabbing baroque like specs, leatherette belt,velvet-ed shoes and top. Mixed with fair amount of accessories -This is me referring to fashion history, kind of and somehow giving my fair share of vintage dressing with a 21st century twist.
P.S
I wore this to Funky Plum Vintage’s event last Saturday (more about that in my upcoming posts) and I just realized that I actually dressed like the name of the store, itself. What do you think about this look?

What have you wanted to be when you were just that innocent cute little girl? You would probably say a Doctor, an Engineer, a Chef, a Writer…I could go on and on with all those highly respected profession.
A Pre-school Teacher. Which what I am dressing as in this post.
That’s what I have dreamed of becoming to be when I was young. I for one have envisioned myself, spending days singing nursery rhymes with naughty yet cute kids. and if I have one strong weakness, those are smart and adorable kids! Their smiles and laughs are just so precious I cant’ help but follow what they want! Also, the main reason why I spoil my little cousins.
Why am I sharing this?
Only because I’d like to dedicate this post to the seniors ( I am! Actually, seven years ago!? haha!) If you’re one, I want you to know that choosing your college major is really important, it’s going to be tough and confusing but it’s vital that you consider not only what your parents want but what you have always wanted…What YOU dreamed of and whatever it is that you’ll become four or five years from now… with all those swings and strides,One thing I know for sure..You can dress the part well! :)
P.PS
I took these photos on a late afternoon, less light, more contrast. Thanks for my tripod for making it possible.I like that they turned out to be vintage-y. What do you think? ;)
Much Love,
Nikki

P.S
I’m having a new skit out of the usual outfit post, weekly dose of shoes, featured designer and fashion quotes. This time I’m sharing my adoration for vintage. A part of my blog where I will give credit to those people who lives in the past and had their works live in the present.
I’m leaving you a quote from double C for now
In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different - Coco Chanel
